ACCCF is running a continuous Education support program by operating an Early Childhood Development (ECD) center in Kampala and has been able to reach about 1,200 orphans and other vulnerable children through payment of their school fees, feeding and provision of scholastic materials. ACCCF is rooted in the belief that a local community organization is extremely effective in establishing long-term sustainable change. As such, our programs combine Education, Art and community engagement with a model focused on agency on children in delivering programming that provides high quality services to them and an alternative to traditional development scale.
An agricultural system that is more effective, rational and productive is not only a necessity in response to the problems of the populations who find their source of livelihood in it, but for the whole country. In order to reach the status of "Middle Income Country", Uganda will have to reach a balance point between% of the population devoted to agriculture (80%) and% of agricultural production compared to GDP (25%) and aim for a substantial increase in per capita productivity (e.g. Italy $ 41267, South Africa $ 6000, Uganda $ 217) so that a part of the population can devote itself to other economic activities and therefore participate actively and diversified in the general development of the country. ACCCF has set out to reverse this trend by training local farmers on the ways of increasing production but more importantly fight mal-nutrition and hunger among the local population of Mpigi District
Education at the grassroots is not a priority due to poverty ravaging families who toil for hand-to-mouth existence. In fact, 34% of girls in Uganda are married before their 18th birthday, and 7% are married before the age of 15. Additionally, 6% of boys are married before their 18th birthday due to lack of educational support. This has led to unplanned and uncontrolled births that perpetuate cycles of poverty.
As the common saying goes ‘’train a woman, a nation trained’. ACCCF embodies the spirit of women empowerment and believes that girls should be at the center of community transformation. Through this project we intend to empower girls through entrepreneurial skills training in fields like tailoring, ICT and Bakery. This combined with life skills training and mentorship will go a long way in improving the lives of many adolescent girls many of whom cannot access formal education.
